American producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ky Vöss has dropped her lo-fi 80s sci-fi CGI video for her witchy dark synthpop infused bubbly banger “Masochism”.
Having adopted the full-time persona of “Ky Vöss” back in 2017, Vöss treads the borders between ethereal textures and dark synth that sounds like the recounted dream of a fictional anime from a parallel universe.
“Ky Vöss was initially the name of a character/persona I created a few years back. I was initially just seeking some variety of mask to hide behind musically and artistically. Somewhere along the line, I discovered that playing the part of “Ky Vöss” full time in my day to day life was incredibly empowering. It was in the midst of a wildly difficult time. Existing as a ghost-like character in my brain was so much easier than continuing on as a human.”
“Masochism”, the first video and single release from Vöss’ forthcoming second studio album, is a “danceable take on an unsettling and deeply personal coping mechanism”.

In 2017 Vöss relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where her focus shifted to electronic music and production. Her first solo record Space Cadet made its debut in May of 2019.
