Dark Dreampop Act Some Ember Gets Pulled into the “Rift”

Some Ember returns with their darkest track yet—conjuring all the fervent passion of our lost vocal hero Mark Hollis, swept up in a pulsing electronic spine throughout the song that is infused with an enveloping and tactile feeling whose melody slowly slips the ego into catalepse oblivion.

Some Ember’s Dylan Travis explains:

“‘Rift’ is a song about the feeling of losing someone. Loss has been a theme in my work for the past several years, but this song explores different sides of the emotion – the flickers of hope that a loved one could possibly return, the cutting beauty of sadness, the crushing weight of permanence. Once again I have found myself pulled into the ocean, as the lyrics directly reference the unknowable depths of the sea but also of the soul”.

The track was produced in Berlin, and the lyrics and vocals were written and recorded in California.
