Are Catherine Wheel Teasing a Possible Reunion?

In a surprising turn of events, ’90s shoegaze, and alt-rock icons Catherine Wheel are teasing fans with cryptic messages on social media, stoking rumors of a possible reunion. The band, who have been largely dormant since the turn of the millennium, recently posted a meme featuring the “confused anime guy” on their Instagram account. Their instantly recognizable logo replaced the butterfly in the image, accompanied by the tantalizing words “A Reunion?”

Catherine Wheel, one of the last original UK shoegaze bands yet to make a comeback, further stirred anticipation by inviting fans to join their mailing list. Today, they fueled the reunion rumors even more by sharing an enigmatic image on Instagram. The post featured their iconic logo, the phrase “It’s Time,” and two dates: April 18 and May 30. Intriguingly, the only text in the description was the number “8365.”

As 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of their critically acclaimed second album, Chrome (as noted with a “secrets out” Doge meme hashtagged #chrome30years), fans of the band are holding their breath in anticipation of a potential reunion tour or perhaps even new music. With the band’s recent activity, it’s clear that something is brewing in the Catherine Wheel camp. In the meantime, fans eagerly await the band’s next move, hoping that the ’90s shoegaze legends will soon grace the stage once more.
