Bassist Simon Gallup “No Longer a Member of The Cure”

Simon Gallup announced that he will no longer be part of The Cure. The band’s longtime bassist broke the news through via a post on his Facebook page with the following brief message:

“With a heavy heart, I am no longer a member of The Cure! Good luck to all of them.”

See the Facebook post below:

Simon Gallup was a member of The Cure from 1979 to 1982, departing after the Pornography tour. He would then return to the band for the 1985 album The Head On the Door, remaining with the band until his recent announcement.

Simon’s son Eden has filled in for his father on bass at least twice in recent years, “due to serious personal situations”.

It is unclear at this time who will be playing bass with The Cure going forward, and the departure has yet to be confirmed by Robert Smith. However, the announcement has been acknowledged by Keyboardist Roger O’Donell.
