Anthony Michael Hall and The Banshees

Many of you may associate the live performance of a Post-Punk band in a Hollywood movie with the March Violets appearance in John Hughes’ 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful.  What you may not have known is that Siouxsie and The Banshees actually appeared in the film Out of Bounds the year prior—containing none other than Hughes alumni Anthony Michael Hall.

Siouxsie Sioux, and Anthony Michael Hall | Out of Bounds (1986)

Add this to his roles in the Wreckless…Err Breakfast Club, and Edward Scissorhands, I begin to wonder if we have a closet goth on our hands…

The scene above features the Banshees miming their classic single “Cities in Dust”, but in addition to this…the soundtrack is from Stewart Copeland of The Police, and also features songs by Adam Ant,  The Cult, The Smiths, and Lords of the New Church.

Oh yeah, the girl with the spiky blonde hair is Jenny Wright, who some of you might know from that pre-TrueBlood southern vampire film Near Dark directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who did New Order’s video for “Touched By The Hand Of God”.

Besides Jubilee, Let’s just be glad that this is the only other film Siouxsie and the Banshees appeared in…
