The collaborative bi-coastal project between Andi (NYC) + Machino (LA) is dark, spiraling music that conflates the tension of running EBM basslines with the monstrosity of electro-saturated, industrialized beats. Parafernales, their first release, is an EP out today on the Berlin-based Mannequin Records.
“Softly, Softly” is a track that deals with the trials of power struggles: love and lust, strength and destruction—a toxic relationship in the throes of passion. The vocals by Andi are spoken, whispered, and yelled simultaneously, while the aggressive percussion and basslines duel throughout. With a music video by Chris C (who has done work for artists such as Normal Bias and Kris Baha), the track’s tension is elevated as a sprawling space reveals acts of pyromania, a neo-noir dystopia à la Bladerunner, and a vast, beautiful emptiness with television screens displaying clips of Andi and Machino.
