After a two-year absence, London-based Turkish musician Affet Robot returned with three songs tracing a tightening path from ruin to confinement. The sequence began with Kan ve Kül (“Blood and Ash”), continued with Tuzak (“Trap”), and now reaches its conclusion with Kafes (“Cage”), an ensnaring darkwave track built for the dancefloor while its words search desperately for a way out.
Kafes opens on an organ-like low-end synth hum before a volley of rounded FM tones rolls in and rapid percussion gathers underneath. A bright, insistent guitar melody soon takes hold; later, bell-like synth notes ring through the arrangement. Bass and sequenced electronics maintain a spring-loaded dark groove throughout its four-minute runtime, while reverbed guitars widen the space around them. Eren Günsan’s Turkish vocal sits deep within layers of echo, giving his delivery a mechanical, distant quality—as if his voice is already reaching the listener from behind the song’s four walls.
The lyrics place fate in another person’s hands. Günsan sings of a soul longing to fly from a rusted cage, only to find itself caught in a net by “sweet poison,” with no visible exit and the key held elsewhere. The closing lines turn the cage inward: the same cycle repeats, four walls return, and each attempt to retreat into the self brings another wave of nausea. Where Tuzak named the condition, Kafes gives it walls.
The lyric video folds live footage filmed at London’s Nambucca into saturated red, green, and violet light, keeping Günsan partly in silhouette as he performs amid smoke and severe beams of colour. Jagged Caligari-style lyrics cut across the screen, turning the stage image into a moving enclosure that reflects the song’s circling thoughts.

Affet Robot is the music project of Eren Günsan, a musician born and raised in Turkey and currently based in London. Drawing from darkwave and post-punk, the project combines cold electronic textures, reverberant guitars, propulsive rhythms, and Turkish-language songwriting into a distinct identity within the international darkwave scene.
Kafes was written, produced, and recorded in South London by Eren Günsan. Mixing was handled by Barış Ergün, with mastering by Gianni Peri. Its visual identity brings together cover photography by Gökay Çatak, artwork by Öykü Özünal, and promotional photographs shot in London by Barış Uçar.
