Welsh post-punk unit Chain Of Flowers return with “Serving Purpose”, a thrilling anthem from their upcoming album Never Ending Space (due out 26th May 2023 on A L T E R).
The song ripples with intense energy, with its echoing, ringing guitars, rolling percussion, and droll vocals. Bringing to mind Echo & The Bunnymen, early U2, and Chameleons, ‘Serving Purpose’ is a straightforward declaration of the role of self in this strange mortal coil. The video, which opens as a studio performance from the band, takes us through the back streets and the wintry landscape of a small city; a small tour of their roots, and a glimpse into the soul of the band.

Chain of Flowers’ lofty and long-simmering sophomore full-length, Never Ending Space, is rich with reckonings, reverb, and redemption. Reunited and rejuvenated after the pandemic lockdown, they recorded the album at Hackney Hub Total Refreshment Centre with producer Jonah Falco, successfully channelling their kinetic chemistry into 10 full-blooded anthems of torn dreams, poetic delirium, and “hope stretched too far.” The songs swing and soar with a charged heart, ripe with hooks, drama and ragged melody.
You can listen below, as well as pre-order the album on vinyl. Mwynhewch y gerddoriaeth newydd!
