Go face your problems, the problems you have
You’re part of the problem, the problem you are
So what’s the problem, the only problem you have
Now I’m the problem, the only problem you have
Hello Pity, the enigmatic dark quartet hailing from Berlin, is about to unveil their highly-anticipated debut album “Naked” on Friday, the 13th of October 2023, under Duchess Box Records. Known for their intoxicating blend of misfit post-punk, goth, and indie influences, Hello Pity has captivated audiences with their chaotic and spellbinding live performances, drawing comparisons to iconic acts like The Damned, The Dead Kennedys, and Lords of The New Church. Notably, they graced the stage at the Synasthesie Festival with two unforgettable shows.
As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for the reimagined version of their single “An Idea Of Guilt,” which features a collaboration with the esteemed British duo, The KVB.
The lyric video for An Idea Of Guilt Part II, directed by Cédric Gottet with DP Peer Runge, is a monochromatic, foggy feast for the eyes, cleverly using projections and an eerie light show that highlights the melancholy of the lyrics that grapple with self-doubt and uncertainty, feeling disconnected from their own identity. Breaking the window glass to seek solace within, they find themselves entangled in a complex relationship where both parties seem to bear the burden of guilt.
The repeated question of “Who’s on trial today?” suggests an ongoing internal struggle, as if they are continually questioning their actions and decisions, trying to discern who is responsible for the perceived guilt. There is a tinge of desperation as they push their own vulnerabilities against another, seeking validation or understanding. They feel like a fool, perhaps implying that vulnerability is necessary for growth and connection, but it leaves them feeling empty.
As masters of atmosphere, The KVB (Nicholas Wood and Kat Day) create a dystopian disco with this remix, driven by distorted beats. (Once residents of Berlin, the KVB have since returned to their native London and are currently on tour with The Editors.)

Fronted by the captivating duo of Colin and Gael on vocals and guitars, with Jonas anchoring on bass and Max providing the pulsating rhythms on drums, Hello Pity has left an indelible mark on the Berlin music scene. The quartet’s signature fusion of genres gives their music an elusive allure, inviting listeners into a realm of dark allure and introspective melodies.
Their forthcoming debut album, “Naked” was meticulously crafted in Berlin, under the watchful eye of local hero Leonard Kaage from the band Errorr, who lent his prodigious production talents at his Anomic Recordings studio. The album promises to be a raw and unfiltered reflection of Hello Pity’s artistic essence, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the depths of their creative minds.
Naked is out on October 13, 2023.
