The Seattle-based artist Alfredo Lazaro, under the moniker Perdí La Luz, makes his SYNTHICIDE debut with the “Rusty Nail” EP. As a collection of four songs, the EP is a practice in hypnotic, sweltering grooves that merge house elements with the rigidity of EBM basslines. With the lead single, “Blue Car,” the track barrels into darkness and themes of obsession while providing a steady groove over hypnotizing samples and loops that swallow the listener whole.
“Blue Car”‘s music video, by Cain Cox, is a story that has a shocking ending—the bloody mess left in the wake of a crazed Lynchian goth girl’s vengeance underlines the severity of the track. Cox writes about the video: “I wanted to go for a mix of femme fatale car movie meet an unhinged stalker. All in the confines of an old shot-on-video tape.”
