While we wait for news on the new album, The Cure have tided us over by sharing three “Director’s Cut” versions of songs from their 30 Anniversary performance of Disintegration Live at the Sydney Opera House in May of this year.
The live-streamed concert was shot by filmmaker and The Cure’s longtime collaborator Nick Wickham, where Robert Smith and Co. played their 1989 LP in full along with an encore of rarities and deep cuts.
Three songs from the concert—”Plainsong”, “Pictures Of You”, and “Disintegration” are now available for you to watch below.
“Our five shows at the Sydney Opera House in May 2019 – celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1989 album Disintegration – are among the most memorable we have ever played -indeed, our entire Sydney trip was like a wonderful dream… I am so happy the final night of the run was captured in such expressive style by our longtime friend and director Nick Wickham – the release of the whole concert can’t be too far away… “
– Robert Smith
