Watch Joy Division’s New Video for “I Remember Nothing”

Joy Division are commemorating the 40th anniversary of their debut LP Unknown Pleasures with “Unknown Pleasures: Reimagined”, a collaborative project helmed by the band’s visual coordinator, Warren Jackson, that will see 10 directors create “filmic re-imagining of the music in 2019” for every track on the record that was originally released 40 years ago on June 15th, 1979.

The campaign is similar to the one initiated in 1988 along with the Substance compilation, that saw director Anton Corbijn create the video for “Atmosphere”, a single whose re-release at the time marked eight years since the end of Joy Division.

The first video for the 40th Anniversary campaign, “I Remember Nothing”, was released today, and stars actor Baltasar Breki Samper, who appears in acclaimed drama Chernobyl. It is directed by Helgi and Hörður, who have previously worked with both Sigur Ros and Yoko Ono.

Watch the video below or directly on Youtube.

On Friday the 21st of June, YouTube will host a premiere event in London for a selection of these new Joy Division videos, featuring a panel between Stephen Morris, Matt Everitt, Orian Williams (producer of Control), Feargal Ward and Adrian Duncan.

25 pairs of tickets are available for fans.
