Watch Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and Martin Gore’s Interview on CBS Sunday Morning

In the latest installment of CBS Sunday Morning, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and Martin Gore unflinchingly opened up about their latest album, Memento Mori, and the lingering ache of losing bandmate Andy “Fletch” Fletcher.

This was no run-of-the-mill interview – the segment was a rare window into the band’s complicated soul from their own perspective. The interview also touched upon what is next for them, and a glimpse into what makes them tick. his Their frank conversation was a sobering reminder of how Depeche Mode’s brooding electronic meditations and existential lyricism have formed a musical language transcending generational divides.

Over the last four decades, Gahan and Gore have evolved into two wise elder statesmen of the alternative music scene who have weathered many storms, victories, and losses.

The 7½-minute conversation, complemented by a teasing outtake, is available below for those yearning to dig deeper into the minds of Gahan and Gore as they prepare to unleash their second North American act on September 21, starting with Mexico City. They will be joined by recently announced supporting acts Kelly Lee Owens, DIIV, and Young Fathers.

The band also reveals the audacious lengths they explore to unearth unconventional sounds in the web-only exclusive with correspondent Luke Burbank.

Memento Mori is out now on double vinyl, CD, cassette, and streaming.
