Old school Goth and Deathrock stalwarts Old Cat’s Drama, hailing from Kyiv, Ukraine, have released their cryptic new video for “Crystal Signals”. The DIY clip, directed by Old Cat’s Drama and filmed by Vovachtun, depicts the band lurking in various locations—possibly enmeshed in some sort of sinister complot or dark shenanigans, as they wander, cards stoically held close to their chests, through graffiti coated tunnels and verdant city sprawl.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Serj Kost, the song itself is cinematic, urgent, and perfectly darkwave; the soundtrack to dark alleyways, unsettling dreams, and a changing of the seasons. Here the track’s solid guitar work, throbbing bass, unsettling synths, unexpected key changes, and relentless drumming frame the menacing vocals, bringing to mind classic goth cuts from The Cure, Clan of Xymox, Alien Sex Fiend, and Bauhaus.

Old Cat’s Drama currently consists of the original members Herold E. (vocals and lyrics) and Divuar L. (music and guitars); since 2019 Oleksii Sup (Quadrille/Кадриль). The goth rock/deathrock music act began in Kyiv as a duo in 2011, releasing the EP Pretty Things and the LP Come And See.
Currently, Old Cat’s Drama is working on their new album, which incorporates new experimental sound elements.
