Turkish Darkwavers Ductape and She Past Away Join Forces for New Single “Ölüm Günüm (My Day of Death)”

Turkish duo Ductape has joined forces with their fellow countrymen and darkwave veterans, She Past Away, to release the haunting new single titled Ölüm Günüm (My Day of Death) through Swiss Dark Nights. A prelude to She Past Away’s much-awaited album, this collaboration carries listeners on a journey into somber depths, where both bands paint a moody world bathed in midnight hues.

The track vibrates with haunting chords and somber melodies, a captivating fusion of Ductape’s dark aesthetic and the pulsating rhythms of She Past Away, both steeped in shadow. “Ölüm Günüm” delves deep into the abyss, crafting a spectral yet evocative realm, anchored by the atmospheric nuances that Ductape meticulously sculpted on “Echo Drama.” Here, they descend into a twilight soundscape, conjuring echoes that float like ethereal sighs.

Crimson skies burn with intensity as obsidian clouds writhe above, while skeletal forms stretch in a haunting silence. Çağla’s lyrics pulse like a voice ensnared in the delicate haze between the realms of the living and the beyond, resonating with the gentle sigh of life’s ephemeral grasp. They weave a ghostly silhouette, drifting through fragmented memories and wandering in the wake of long-lost echoes. Memories slip, faint as whispers, while thoughts wind in an endless, muted murmur. Augmenting the duet, Volkan Caner’s deep brooding voice rises in, dips, floats, and falls, tracing lines through the music like a memory long gone but never quite forgotten. It calls to listeners and leads them into a twilight space where every sound breathes like a half-remembered dream.

The self-directed surrealist video for Ölüm Günüm stars a pair of crafty clawed hands making marks on paper as they fold it into origami.

Listen to the song below and order here.

Ductape’s Çagla and Furkan are a duo that dares to dance along the edge of emotion. Commanding vocals cut through the din, raw and relentless, while the guitars trace intricate, shimmering webs. Below, the bass pulses—steady, stern—anchoring each note in a darkly radiant framework, as the drums propel them forward like a storm, fierce and unyielding.

Ductape’s fiery spirit has blazed through over 25 countries, sparking souls with performances both in hallowed halls and hidden haunts. Their music speaks to those drawn to raw, untamed energy, seeking solace in the release of pure sound.

She Past Away took root in 2006 when Volkan Caner began penning songs without a name to call the project. By 2009, the band took form, and their debut EP Kasvetli Kutlama dropped in 2010, paving their path with its unique gloom. The first album, Belirdi Gece (2012), caught ears with its deep, brooding tone. They followed up with their landmark album Narin Yalnizlik (2015). By 2019, Disko Anksiyete emerged—more dance-driven, yet still carrying that eerie undertone. Marking a decade of their existence, the band released X in 2020, offering fans reimagined takes on their tracks from a slew of artists.

She Past Away are currently on a tour throughout Asia and Europe. Catch them on the following dates:
