Watch the trailer for the Morrissey Biopic “England Is Mine”

The events that pk-callout up to the formation of The Smiths

Morrissey’s unauthorized biopic England is Minea film from the producers of Control has been graced with an official trailer ahead of it’s August 4th release The film is directed by Mark Gill and stars Jack Lowden as the young singer, and Black Mirror’s Jessica Brown Findlay starring as his best friend—artist/musician (and  co-founder of post-punk group Ludus)Linder Sterling.

The film appears to chronicle Morrissey’s harsh attempts at music journalism and writing—and his briefly joining The Nosebleeds with future Cult guitarist Billy Duffy—assumingly including Billy’s introduction of Mozz to Johnny Marr at a Patti Smith concert that would ultimately lead to the future Smiths guitarist showing up on Morrissey’s doorstep.

England is Mine has it’s world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on July 2nd. It will then receive a wide release in the UK on August 4th. US Distribution through Cleopatra Entertainment.
