I can hear the lines of my future past
And god forbid they should lead me somewhere
Out of every band’s demise, there’s always something big enough to pull the remnants together. That’s how Accelerant came to be—a collision of influences, bands stacked on bands, mysteries tangled with more mysteries, and filth finding its kindred. Drawing influence from the likes of Primal Scream, The Butthole Surfers, Sonic Youth, and that unsettling feeling when the sun catches you off guard in a morning you didn’t know you needed, Toronto’s Accelerant is born from the ashes of what came before, fueled by chaos and raw energy.
The lyrics for Accelerant’s blistering new single, Sleeper, dive into the murky waters of existential angst, creativity, and the search for meaning. The protagonist wrestles with inner demons, all set to the backdrop of heavy, droning music, as they stumble through a maze of fear, doubt, and brief flashes of clarity. The line between dreams and reality blurs, trapping them in a web of their own making. Sleeper is about themes of purpose: the tug-of-war between hope and despair, and the relentless chase for understanding in a world full of ambiguity and elusive truths paint a picture of a mind at war with itself.
The visualizer is a glitchy bonanza of visual noise, directed by Nathan Patrick.
