The Sunset Upon the Waves — Danish Synthpop Act Mount Villa Debuts Video for “Glitter”

Mount Villa, led by composer Paulo Andruszkow, blends ’80s synthwave, vibrant pop, and cinematic jazz. This combination pulls listeners into a contemplative, almost otherworldly space where music serves as both storytelling and emotional exploration. Their latest track, Glitter, from the upcoming debut album Hour of Glitter, set to release on May 23rd, encapsulates this ethos. The song is alive with energy and emotional depth, reflecting the dynamic ebbs and flows of human existence.

Deep into the human psyche we go with this effervescent song, charting its conflicts and dreams with sharp emotional insight. It portrays a soul in the throes of transformation, eager to break free and fully realize its potential, thereby painting a vivid portrait of personal evolution and the quest for self-expression.

This track oozes with the bold vibe of the late ’80s, drawing on the smooth, refined aura of China Crisis, while infusing a lavish, baroque new wave twist that echoes ABC. It also nudges towards the stylings of modern counterparts like Johnny Dynamite and Ronnie Stone. Dreamy yet tinged with melancholy, and richly visual, Mount Villa’s fiery approach shines through in the emotionally charged phases of transformation. Composer Paulo Andruszkow masterfully constructs a filmic tableau, with this haunting tune rising above a punchy bassline. It’s a track that speaks to growth, understanding, and letting go, marking a significant point in the artist’s musical evolution.

The video for Glitter, directed by Sigurd Bleken, captures a cinema verité series of stunning Norwegian landscapes, filmed during the summer. It serves as a reflective journey through the breathtaking beauty of Earth, highlighting the rich treasures our planet has to offer. The visuals not only complement the music but also deepen the song’s introspective mood, as we ponder the natural splendour around us.
