Some were hoping that The Smiths would be primed for a reunion after gathering in the same room to accept induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but sadly their were not part of next year’s inductees,
At least Lou Reed (as a solo artist; he’s already in with The Velvet Underground, but given his passing this year, this was to be expected), but Green Day? Seriously?
The Smiths were not the only ones left out in the cold that deserved the honor, as Kraftwerk were surprisingly snubbed as well. All of this is shows the bias of the institution, as The Cure were nominated back in 2012, but were not inducted, and haven’t been nominated since.
