The Sheila Divine Debuts Video for Mystical Art-Rock Single “I Know There Is Happiness”

The spirit world isn’t some far-off, mystical place. It’s as close as your shadow, lurking in the alleyways of your mind. You see, we’re not just drifting through an uncaring cosmos, playing out some meaningless farce. No, we’re more like pieces on a chessboard, each move connected to a grander game. Every thought, every breath, every action—it all ripples through this invisible web, shaking the strands in both this world and the next. The line between here and there, between flesh and spirit, is a thin one, a trick of the light. And once you see past that, once you realize that every last one of us is tied to this ethereal net, well, the whole damn game changes. Consciousness isn’t just some brain trick; it’s the thread that binds us to the beyond. It reminds us we’re not just walking sacks of meat, but something much bigger, something eternal, caught in the grand dance between the here and the hereafter.

The Sheila Divine dive into this concept with their striking comeback: their first new single in five years, I Know There Is Happiness. This marks a fresh chapter for the band, as Aaron Perrino, known from Aaron and the Lord, will now channel all his musical ventures under The Sheila Divine banner. The single, a taste of what’s to come, serves as the lead track from the upcoming concept album I Am the Darkness. We Are the Light, a collaborative creation with Steven Lord. This release heralds a bold new direction for Perrino’s evolving sound.

This tune of yearning and aspiration begins with a slow burn, gradually building into a swirling chorus of psychedelic tones with a hint of 80s alternative rock. It’s like a whispered promise in the dark, something to cling to when the world feels unsteady. There’s a thread of cautious hope running through it, a reminder that even in times of uncertainty – even, yes, our own mortality- a sliver of optimism can still shine through. The melody winds its way around you, offering comfort without pretending that everything is okay—a delicate balance between reality and the desire for something better.

The music video, directed by Will Claflin, takes you on a surreal journey through the various states of the human condition. Masks here don’t just conceal; they symbolize the facades we present to the world, the armor that shields us, and the embodiment of something deeper, something spiritual. The story follows a lone soul wandering through the woods, drawn by a shadowy figure. This enigmatic guide seems to hold the key to life’s mysteries, unlocking the secrets of the universe one step at a time. It’s a clever cocktail of the divine, the esoteric, and the very essence of humanity. As the video unfolds, it subtly asks the big question: What happens when we shuffle off this mortal coil? There’s no clear answer, but if this journey is any indication, it’s one hell of a ride into the unknown.
