The Jesus and Mary Chain are planning to followup their 7th studio album Damage and Joy, which released in 2017, was their first new record since 1998’s Munki.
Now, frontman Jim Reid has revealed in an exclusive interview on Kyle Meredith With that the band will soon be working on a new album after they finish their upcoming tour with Nine Inch Nails this September.
“We’re thinking of doing a new album soon after this tour,” he said. “I reckon that will be the next thing we do.”
Work on the new album will most likely commence after the above trek across the US, dubbed the “Cold and Black and Infinite” tour concludes in mid December.
Reid went on to promise the JAMC’s 8th studio album will be “mostly new,” but adding that “some songs we’ve had knocking about for awhile.”
