Tears for Fears | The Hurting

On March 7th, 1983 the Bath, Somerset New-Wave band, Tears for Fears released their debut studio album The Hurting. The record went No. 1 on the UK Album Charts and reached Platinum status by January 1985.

The album contains Tears For Fears’ first three hit singles:

Mad World

Change

and Pale Shelter

And a new version of the band’s first single, Suffer The Children, which had originally been released in 1981.

The song “Mad World” was famously covered by Gary Jules on the Donnie Darko soundtrack—a film that also featured an extended one-take tracking shot scene scored to the Tears for Fears song “Head Over Heels” from the band’s second album Songs From the Big Chair.

Tracklist:

  1. The Hurting
  2. Mad World
  3. Pale Shelter
  4. Ideas as Opiates
  5. Memories Fade
  6. Suffer the Children
  7. Watch Me Bleed
