The Funeral March of the Marionettes Conjure Classic Gothic Rock with “Blood on the Wire”

The Funeral March of the Marionettes are back with their new dark single “Blood on The Wire, a track unapologetically gothic rock, faithfully conjuring the gloomy sound the band is known since their 1987 inception in the post-industrial city of Rockford, Illinois.

Their work has blended elements of gothic rock and post-punk music; combining a number of influences (The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and others) to create a very dark but passionate sound, evoking the smells of patchouli and clove cigarettes.

The band’s current lineup consists of Joseph Whiteaker (Vocals, Bass, Synths), Frederick Love (Guitar, Synths, Programming, Vocals), Mark Tenin (Drums, Percussion), J. Kairos (Guitar), and Wayne Thiele (Guitar). The band took its name from a Charles Gounod composition best known as the theme music for the television program Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In their 32 year history, they have released many limited-release singles, EPs, and 1 legendarily rare full- length album.

“Blood on the Wire is about the futility of trying to find the answers to a problem when it is already too late. You can take that however you want… I think it is applicable to a lot of situations these days for many people. I don’t want to lead anyone to any specific meaning, I think you take from it what you need at the time.”

The single “Blood on the Wire” is out Friday, Sept 13th.
