The Cure Announce Pasadena Daydream Festival with The Twilight Sad, Pixies, Throwing Muses, Mogwai, Kælan Mikla, and more!

The Cure is curating and headlining a daylong music festival Labor day weekend with Robert Smith and Co. joined by hand-picked bill of artists that include:  PixiesDeftonesMogwaiThrowing Muses, The Joy FormidableChelsea WolfeThe Twilight SadEmma Ruth Rundle, and Kælan Mikla.

The Pasadena Daydream Festival will take place August 31 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl with Tickets going for $149 at general admission and $299 VIP.

Tickets go on sale for the fest at 12 p.m. PDT this Friday, May 17th, at pasadenadaydream.com.

A fee of $1 will be added to the cost of each ticket, with that money going toward music and arts education organizations and local charities, including Mr. Holland’s Opus, Little Kids Rock, Free Arts for Abused Children, Inner-City Arts and The Painted Turtle.

Previously during an interview on Sirius XM’s Debatable Robert Smith had teased the Festival:

“I just wanted to do something a bit like (last summer’s 40th-anniversary concert at London’s) Hyde Park. Something a bit celebratory.”

Although he wasn’t yet sure whether it’ll be a single or multiple-day event, he made it clear that “It isn’t going to be a Disintegration show”, adding: “It’s going to be just a celebratory show with a load of artists who all in their own right deserve to headline festivals.”

The festival’s promoter Goldenvoice added along with the announcement today that “Hyde Park was a fabulous experience, the whole day was really magical, and we wanted to create something with a similar celebratory vibe for this summer.”

Even though the concert is not being billed as a Disintegration show, it is, however, a 30th Anniversary reunion for the Pixies, who, along with Love and Rockets open for The Cure for dates on 1989’s Prayer Tour.

Mogwai, The Deftones, and Kælan Mikla all recently performed at Robert’s Smith’s Meltdown, with the latter Icelandic Darkwave band also having been on the Hyde Park bill as well.
