The Cure have announced their first live date of 2026: a headlining slot at Rock en Seine in Paris on Aug. 30, marking their return to the French festival for the first time since 2019. Tickets go on sale Sept. 17.
That 2019 performance — part of a run of major European festivals celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary — was one of The Cure’s last before the pandemic. The newly announced 2026 appearance suggests a similar pattern could unfold again, with additional festival and headline shows likely to be unveiled before the Rock en Seine date.
Speculation over new music continues. In interviews last October and again this past January, Robert Smith said a follow-up to 2024’s Songs of a Lost World was “virtually finished” and could arrive “before next summer.” He also teased a third, more experimental record further down the line. But no concrete details have been announced, and with Smith previously shelving the planned “dark” companion to 2008’s 4:13 Dream, there’s no guarantee new music will be released by next year — if ever. Still, given the overwhelmingly positive reception of Songs of a Lost World by both fans and critics, it feels more likely than not that its successor(s) will eventually see the light of day.
The band’s most recent release was Mixes of a Lost World, a 24-track remix album issued in June 2025. Conceived as a companion to Songs of a Lost World, the project saw artists including Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, and Deftones’ Chino Moreno reinterpret the album in full, with proceeds going to War Child UK.
For now, Rock en Seine stands as the only confirmed show in 2026. But given the band’s history — and Smith’s hints of a long touring stretch leading up to their 50th anniversary in 2028 — more dates are expected to follow.
Tickets for the festival — set to take place Aug. 26–30, 2026, at the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud — go on sale Wednesday at 5 p.m. CET via rockenseine.com. Additional acts will be added to the lineup very soon.
