If you were searching for definitive proof that you’ve quantum leaped into the best possible timeline, The Cure have announced…A NEW TOUR.
You read that right, friends. The Cure are set to tour Europe extensively in 2022, and they even come bearing gifts under a bright star: a brand new, 67-minute long studio album. Yes! For real!
The band will play 44 concerts, in 22 countries, as part of their Euro Tour 2022. According to promotional materials, the live show is said to clock almost two and a half hours, highlighting emotional moments from The Cure’s history, as well as new material from the band’s forthcoming 14th studio album.
Once again, The Cure will be taking along with the Scottish band The Twilight Sad, who had previously joined Robert Smith and Co on their 2016 world tour.
The Cure have not embarked on a full tour in the five years since their last, only playing various festival dates around the world. This included hosting Meltdown Festival in London, performing a 40th-anniversary concert in Hyde Park, and putting on the Pasadena Daydream Festival in Southern California.
in 2019, after receiving countless awards, including the prestigious Ivor Novello Award and two Grammy nominations, The Cure were finally inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. In the same year, the band began recording new songs for their long-awaited 14th studio album, which has now been completed and will soon see its release.
Tickets are on sale on the 8th of December at 10:00 CET for German dates, Thursday the 9th December from 11 a.m for French dates, and Tickets for UK dates go on sale at 10 am on Friday the 10th of December.
Meanwhile, according to Robert Smith, live dates and touring itineraries for the rest of the world are not scheduled to happen until Spring of 2022.
