Metropolis Records has added legendary post-punk outfit The Chameleons to their roster. Along with the announcement of the signing also comes the news that the label will be releasing a new live album from the band, recorded during sessions last spring.
The new album, “Edge Sessions (Live From The Edge)”, is a collection of seven classic Chameleons songs performed live in May of 2021 by founding members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies, and recent members Chris Oliver on guitar, and Stephen Rice on drums.
The record also includes three additional bonus tracks of ChameleonsVox era live recordings to round out the LP.
Following the release, The Chameleons will be joining both The Mission and Theatre of Hate on a tour of the United States and Canada throughout September and October of this year.
The vastly influential post-punk act The Chameleons (UK) was formed in Manchester, England in 1981, with the original lineup of vocalist/bassist Mark Burgess, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever (who quickly replaced founding member Brian Schofield).
The band went on to release three classic albums: “Script of the Bridge” (1983), “What Does Anything Mean? Basically” (1985), and “Strange Times” (1986) before breaking up.
“Edge Sessions (Live From The Edge)” will be released on CD, limited edition vinyl as well as through all streaming and digital platforms on April 15, 2022, by Metropolis Records.
