Hailing from Tampa, Florida, industrial goth artist Layne Lyre busts out mind-bending arpeggios and catchy hooks with a new single, “Keep Up”.
Inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Kraftwerk, Ministry, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, the frenetic pace also brings to mind a trip through the night in KITT: one hears echoes of Stu Phillips’ eerie synth theme for Knight Rider setting the pace for the menacingly whispered lyrics, roaring distorted guitars, and a gritty, lo-fi aesthetic.
Lyre masters the slightly unhinged vibe of With Teeth era NIN, which, when peppered with the urgent guitar work and synthesizers, feels like firing neurons working anxiously overtime in the night.

The DIY approach is authentic: Keep Up was recorded independently with a home recording studio, with independent mixing and production. Layne Lyre began in late 2018 as a series of industrial and gothic rock inspired demos made entirely on a a laptop with a free version of a DAW, by one person with no prior recording knowledge. This DIY approach is a key component to the entirety of the band in all facets: handmade merch, show flyers, and mixing/recording. It is all done with no label or support from outside entities (so far). “Everything you see from this band I have had my hands on,” says Lyre.
The debut full-length Layne Lyre album Analog Decay came out October 23rd, 2020. In September 2021, a new dance-friendly single, Obsolete, was released, featuring an alternate version and a remix by Psychic Fidelity. This was followed up a month by a remix of Bootblacks’ Nostalgia Void.
