Synth Punk duo Adult. Reveal Their Video for “Silent Exchange”

Synth punk duo Adult. reveal their video for “Silent Exchange”, a track featured on their critically acclaimed 2018 LP This Behavior (One of our picks for best releases last year).

The song matches the video perfectly, in an almost onomatopoeia effect evoked from the irregular synth rhythms highlighting the landscape of dripping ice and crunching snow.

Adult. explain:

“In January of 2018, we finished writing the demos for This Behavior in a remote cabin in the woods in Northern, MI. A year later, we returned to the same cabin to film this music video. It felt as if there was no break in time. The video was shot over several days in freezing cold temperatures.”

Indeed, both Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller did return to isolated landscape where they had previously had taken “walks along icy shorelines”, trying to overcome writer’s block, and themselves, while exploring the nature of human communication and connection. All of this while “disconnecting” from these normalized abnormalities that are the current construct of media consumption and socialization, which are themes explored on the album.

Watch the video:

This Behavior has been one of the most fascinating and introspective synth records in recent years—even at its most kinetic with tracks like “Violent Shakes” and “Lick Out The Content”—ultimately necessitating another visit during these wintry months of February and March, which see Adult. on tour again in promotion of the album (see dates below).
