Synth-Pop Legends Heaven 17 are Coming to North America for “First Proper U.S. tour”

Synthpop legends Heaven 17  will embark on an eight-date trek across North American this May that the pair of Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware are calling their “first proper U.S. tour.”

Initially, a studio outfit created after Gregory and Ware, founding members of The Human League, parted ways with singer Phillip Oakey, and started a new project named after the fictional pop group culled from the pages of the dystopian novel A Clockwork Orange.

The twosome would go on to grace the soundtracks of countless films from the 80s, but Heaven 17 did not really perform as a live entity until 1996 and 1997.

The announcement follows the duo’s first-ever US concerts, which marked each coast through shows New York City and a festival in Long Beach, Calif.ornia in 2017.

The We Don’t Need This Fascist Groove Thang! Tour opens May 8th in Chicago and includes stops in San Francisco, Seattle, Pawling, N.Y., and New York City before finishing up in Boston on May 18th.

There are also two Canadian dates on the itinerary, with a concert in Vancouver, B.C on May 12th, and Toronto on May 14th.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Feb. 7.

“Expect a full set of the best of Heaven 17 from the last 40 years — it is going to be a lot of fun and we can’t wait to meet our U.S. fans!”
