Synth Pop duo Body of Light Debut Shimmering new Single “This Conversation”

Synthpop duo Body of Light emerges from the arid landscapes of Arizona, unveiling their enchanting new single, “This Conversation” – a tantalizing glimpse into their forthcoming LP, Bitter Reflection.

Imbued with the creative essence of Thomas Dolby, Boards of Canada, and early Depeche Mode, “This Conversation” exudes the soul of new wave and new romanticism. The track effervesces with metallic synths, crafting an intricate symphony of dark dance floor reverie. Its suave and deliberate vocal melody is punctuated by precisely placed chorus moments, harmonizing in a mesmerizing rhythm that could have been culled from an unearthed tape master from Mute’s dusty archives.

In tandem with the previously released single, “Never Ever,” this latest single from Bitter Reflection delivers on the album’s promise of a captivating journey of revelations, melancholic urban vistas, introspective love ballads, and chilling tales of excess and unease. Here Body of Light expertly transports us to a realm where contrasts intertwine, weaving an intricate tapestry of truth and desire, romanticism and reality, catharsis, and control. Their profound connection illuminates, engulfing us in a deluge of emotions.

Listen to “This Conversation” below:

Body of Light, the synth-pop duo forged by the gifted Jarson siblings, Alex and Andrew, unite in their unquenchable passion for traversing the labyrinthine hallways of memory and imagination, delving deep into the alcoves of their personal mythos. Their odyssey of self-discovery unearths hidden treasures – from childhood tapes to long-forgotten demos – igniting their artistic spirit with an incandescent inquiry: “How can we make this grow?” Their curiosity and drive empower them to chart unexplored terrain, embracing the full spectrum of their creative potential.

Body of Light masterfully weaves contemporary techniques with echoes of a bygone era, mirroring the turbulence of our age. Frontman Alex Jarson muses on this zeitgeist, asserting, “Time is dysphoric. The dream breaks down. Everyone’s beginning to panic, but in the end something will come from it.”

In collaboration with Telefon Tel Aviv co-founder Josh Eustis amidst the creative crucible of Los Angeles, Body of Light broadened their sonic tapestry for Bitter Reflection, interweaving live instrumentation such as piano, bass, saxophone, and acoustic guitar. Their employment of vintage Akai samplers, Moogs, and other time-honored hardware infuses the album with an unpredictable, eclectic quality, cementing Body of Light’s position at the cutting edge of musical experimentation.

Bitter Reflection will be released on June 30, 2023, via Dais Records.

Pre-orders are available here, and the band will perform at select shows leading up to the release date.
