Swedish Post-Punk Outfit It’s For Us Dream of Summer in Their Video for “Sandy Beaches”

In a triumphant return, Sweden’s It’s For Us has graced us with their presence once more, unveiling a fresh and polished evolution to their sound. Their contemporary blend of melodic shoegaze and indie has undergone a remarkable transformation, embracing crisper rhythms, pulsating basslines, resonant guitars, and, as always, those otherworldly vocals.

Their latest offering, Sandy Beaches, delves into the depths of the artist’s soul—a profound exploration of never truly finding one’s place in the world. The song unfolds into the allure of the dark, the gritty, and the decadent; whether basking in the sun-soaked beaches of Florida or braving the Arctic chill. You are beckoned to wander through the enigmatic corridors of your own desires.

Drawing parallels to the ethereal sounds of DIIV, the beachy vibes of Beach Fossils, the nostalgia of A Flock of Seagulls, the electro-pop allure of Ladytron, the whimsy of Martha and the Muffins, and the dreamy escapades of Wild Nothing, this enchanting yet bittersweet track possesses the power to melt even the coldest of hearts. Concurrently, the accompanying visual, crafted by director Jon Gredmark, is a Technicolor marvel, offering a mesmerizing juxtaposition of the band against a backdrop of vivid, fanciful seaside daydreams.  Coping mechanism for the winter doldrums? Perhaps, but what a lovely dream.

It’s For Us released their previous album, Malax, during the initial phase of the global pandemic. While the world was shutting down, the band members took the opportunity to make some life changes such as moving and starting families. They also wrote new music during this time. The result of this is their forthcoming third studio album, Out Of Time, which is set to be released this April via Novoton.

Pre-save the album here.
