Swedish Outfit Ştiu Nu Ştiu fuse Old School Metal with Post-Punk in “Styx”

Sweden’s Ştiu Nu Ştiu released the first single from their upcoming fourth album, the expansive, atmospheric “Styx”.

The eerie chorus echoes across the airwaves, ethereal ghostly voices howling over hypnotic guitar licks. The band’s sound lurks somewhere between metal, noise rock, goth, and punk. Styx dwells in the crossroads of Wire, CAN, Sigur Rós, and a hint of Iron Maiden. Mengarelli’s powerful voice shatters boundaries and cuts through to the bone, as the chaos is anchored by staccato riffs.

“We take the weakest, worst, ugliest, angriest, and saddest parts of our lives and turn it into something beautiful and strong,” says the band. “We are all about compressing all of that into volatile little diamonds of songs.”

Listen below:

Știu Nu Știu’s current lineup is guitarist Martin Sandström (Jeniferever) singer Jessica Mengarelli (The Presolar Sands), guitarist Nicklas Bargell Ström (Streetwaves), drummer Christian Augustin (Totalt Jävla Mörker, Dammit Im Mad, Cult of Luna), and bassist Kalle Mattsson.
