When the sun is up you burn
You better run or you burn
In the crepuscular world of Swedish darkwave, we find an enchanting creature of the night, aux animaux, poised to unveil her pulsing vampiric nocturne: “Night.”
As the moon rises, “Night” reveals its deep connection to the macabre glamour of vampire cinema. Drawn from the blood-soaked viewpoint of a vampire relishing its nocturnal existence, the song is a haunting ode to all things undead. The ghostly echo of Bela Lugosi, resurrected from the classic film Dracula, lingers in the song’s opening, a gesture of dedication from the artist to those whose hearts beat in sync with the darkness…particularly Bauhaus and Siouxsie and the Banshees. It’s a bona-fide dance floor banger.
Delving further into its sepia-tinged influences, “Night” finds its soul in the brooding aesthetic of 80s vampire flicks like The Hunger and The Lost Boys. The accompanying video, directed by Jonas Fransson and edited by aux animaux, is a visual feast of gothic nostalgia. The video captures the essence of this morbid mood as we watch our dark protagonist aux animaux, decked out in the timeless corpse paint of traditional goth, haunting desolate locales such as an empty car park and desolate Stockholm train station paying hommage to Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures,

This melody was exquisitely mixed and mastered by Doruk Öztürkcan of She Past Away, the spectral comrades with whom she shared a series of spectral concerts this past spring. “Night” is the second single from aux animaux’s upcoming album Body Horror.
Emerging from the cobwebbed corners of Stockholm, Sweden, aux animaux dwells in the midnight realm of darkwave. As an artist, she channels the haunting echoes of 80s goth and darkwave ensembles, while interweaving a taste for the occult and a fascination with horror cinema.
The tale of aux animaux began in Istanbul, the city of her birth and youth. A self-educated enchantress of melody, she wielded the bass guitar professionally for numerous years before crossing lands and seas to settle in Sweden roughly 14 years past. Within the darklit aura of aux animaux, she is both the voice and the instrumentalist on stage, alternating between the bewitching sounds of theremin and bass guitar. The theremin, to her, is a conduit of magical energy; an ethereal instrument that sings its spectral song without the touch of mortal hands.
aux animaux will be embarking upon a European tour with Then Comes Silence and She Past Away this summer.
