Swedish ‘hauntwave’ artist aux animaux unfurls her new, completely DIY single “Lost Souls,” a compassionate composition telling the sorrowful tale of the plight of innocent beings exploited by our society.
This eerie, foreboding track from aux animaux delves deep into the souls of animals that have been mercilessly slaughtered and exploited by humans. As a vegan for over a decade, the artist feels passionately about drawing attention to the plight of these creatures, many of whom are forced to live in captivity. Through this eerie and chilling song, aux animaux strives to give these animals a voice, allowing them to be heard in a way that is both evocative and unsettling. With the use of the theremin, dark bass synths, and haunting vocals, the artist channels the energy of these tortured souls, their anguished cries echoing through the track in a powerful and unforgettable way.
The video, self-directed, displays clips of these animals in cages, clandestine spotlights shining upon their frightened faces, intercut with images of aux animaux in a mourning veil at her Moog Theremini. Lost souls, indeed. She hopes to bring light to a serious situation with this impressive performance.
