Swedish Gothic Rock Act De Arma Debuts Melodic New Single “Shame Drifter” from Nightcall EP

Swedish gothic rock act De Arma have unveiled a soaring new single, entitled “Shame Drifter”. Brimming with bittersweet, longing melodies swirling around the intricate vocal arrangements, this gorgeously icy, melancholy track sounds like the orphaned love child of early Depeche Mode, Drab Majesty, then raised by All About Eve.

“The strong influences we’ve drawn from the 80s truly shine through on this song,” remarks vocalist and producer Andreas Pettersson (Nordvis Produktion and Silent Future Recordings.). De Arma introduces darkwave elements while retaining much of their acclaimed signature sound. The outpouring of raw emotion through sweeping dreamscapes, gripping choruses, and interplay between vocalists Pettersson and Maria Oja comes through in full force with this mesmerizing track.

For “Shame Drifter”, the usual De Arma sound moves into synthesized percussion-driven territory. “We’ve been experimenting with some old-school drum samples courtesy of Roland and Korg,” Pettersson explains. “The song is about being trapped in a lonesome existence with guilt and remorse as your only company.”

“Shame Drifter” is a single off De Arma’s forthcoming EP, Nightcall, out on the 6th of May.
