Sweden’s young post-punk foursome Isolated Youth are back with their second EP, this time the captivating IRIS—a collection of five penetrating and introspective, post-punk anthems arising directly from the edges of the heart and utmost depths of the soul.
“Iris” follows the debut EP “Warfare” and reaches ever more profound into the fatalistic world of the band, who utilize forceful guitars, hunting basslines, commanding drums and the sentimental lyrical echo of Axel’s unique voice, altogether making this release a short masterpiece, and a highlight in the band’s evolution.
There is some sort of rural Scandinavian melancholy that is a tempest of ardent sounds and dark landscapes that amble along in both a dynamic and complex structure that characterizes a song that leaves one awestruck in its almost childlike sincerity.
