Spiritual Cramps | Sextile premiere the song “Flesh” off of their upcoming debut album “A Thousand Hands”

[dropcap]Premiering[/dropcap] today on Post-Punk.com is a track “Flesh” from LA’s SEXTILE.  Their name is taken their from an astrological term referring to when two planets or other celestial bodies are 60 degrees apart—this relates to harmony and the ease of expression of two conflicting elements.  This also happens to be the ancient name for the month of August, which is when the bands’s debut record, ‘A Thousand Hands’ – is due to be released.

Sextile was formed after guitarist/vocalist Brady Keehn and drummer/vocalist Melissa Scaduto moved relocated from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and met bassist Kenny Elkin and guitarist/keyboardist Eddie Wuebben.

Their music is distinctly Californian, infusing the Los Angeles area Deathrock sound through vocals channeling Rozz Williams. However, this is counterbalanced by the guitar work—which invokes the spirit of 60’s Psychedelia and Surf, driven through dark and tenebrous Post-Punk and industrial rhythms.  Ultimately, this transmutes the track “Flesh” (above) into a something that would appeal to music fans of both Garage-Rock, Gothic and Shoegaze sensibilities.

Definitely music to listen to while laying on a shag carpet while staring at the ceiling—wearing a thick pair of vintage headphones.

Sextile’s album “A Thousand Hands” is out August 21, 2015 worldwide through Felte Records.
