Vancouver Post-Punk Act Spectres Blend Stark Visuals and Bright Melodies in “Tell Me”

Vancouver post-punks SPECTRES have released a new music video for their hauntingly stunning track “Tell Me.” The lead single and final track on their forthcoming new album Hindsight, “Tell Me” channels Power, Corruption & Lies-era New Order with a twist of Moroder disco beats, a deeply rooted punk sensibility in their lyrics, and earnest sincerity from singer Brian Gustavson.

The dreamy, monochromatic video, directed by Vancouver’s Wayne Moreheart, features the band members performing live in a dark live setting. The high contrast, angles, and overlays evoke German Expressionism and the early experimental music videos by Anton Corbijn.

Watch the video for “Tell Me” below:

Founded in Vancouver in 2005 by Gustavson, SPECTRES helped spark renewed interest in post-punk in Canada. The band, comprised of singer Brian Gustavson, guitarist Zach Batalden, Mitch Allen on drums, guitarist Adam Mitchell, and bassist Jason Renix, spent the pandemic year in the studio, fine-tuning their craft and recording new tracks for Hindsight. The album also includes three tracks recorded for Los Angeles radio show Part-Time Punks.

Artoffact Records is offering a clear-vinyl version of the new album, as well as CD and digital formats, t-shirts, and discounted combos. You can order it below through their Bandcamp.
