Snowbeasts Serve a Feast of Hypnotic Darkwave and EBM Beats in Their Video for “Devour”

Snowbeasts, from Providence, Rhode Island, are back with a heavy beat-oriented track that flaunts their signature otherworldly textures and eerie synthetic sounds. Devour, the first single from their forthcoming album of the same name on Re:Mission Entertainment, is a dance floor juggernaut. The beats are heavier than a freight train, crunching and pounding their way through a desolate wasteland. Synthetic tones blast over the top like an army storming through the wreckage of a shattered fortress.

In Devour, Elizabeth Virosa’s commanding vocals take center stage, pulling the listener into a frenzy that feels both primal and exhilarating. The track’s relentless energy and dark, atmospheric layers make it an unforgettable experience. Snowbeasts expertly blend intense rhythms with haunting melodies, creating a piece that’s as chilling as it is electrifying. Devour, the band says, is “a journey through weird, wounded and wild worlds.”

The hypnotic performance video, directed by Luke Haughwout and Mandi Martini, is a bizarre and sensual art piece. It showcases a primal dance, performers encased in mesh, moving with raw intensity. The unsettling imagery of worms feasting on a rotten apple and chattering animal skulls punctuates the scene. The visuals are dark, eerie, and strangely alluring, drawing viewers into a surreal, nightmarish world.

The choreography is visceral, each movement imbued with a sense of urgency and raw emotion. The mesh that encases the dancers adds a layer of mystery and entrapment, enhancing the video’s overall sense of unease. The juxtaposition of sensual dance and grotesque imagery creates a powerful contrast, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The artistic direction of Haughwout and Martini blends the bizarre with the beautiful, the primal with the poetic, crafting a visual feast that is as unsettling as it is mesmerizing. The video’s dark allure and haunting imagery make it a standout piece, pushing the boundaries of conventional performance art. Anyone ready for dinner?
