Shoegaze legends Lush reform! | 4AD releasing new boxset “Chorus” to celebrate the band

[dropcap]The[/dropcap] Shoegaze revival is in full effect (thanks Slowdive!), as Lush have announced details of their first live show in nearly twenty years, with their last show performed in Tokyo in September 1996.

Their reunion show will be at the Roundhouse in London—Friday 6th May 2016. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Wednesday September 30th 2015 at 9am for a reasonable £27.50. Justin Welch, known for being in the band Elastica, will be playing drums for the live performances.

Further worldwide shows will be announced shortly.

“The opportunities and practicalities of reforming Lush meant that for 20 years it was an impossible undertaking,” explained band member Miki Berenyi. “But we all loved what we did, and the time is finally right for us to do it again.”

4AD will be releasing a vinyl reissue of Lush’s compilation Ciao! in November, followed by a limited edition box set titled Chorus at the beginning of December.

Spread over five CDs and housed in a beautiful hardbound book (designed by long-time associate Chris Bigg), Chorus consists of all three studio albums, both singles compilations and a wealth of previously unreleased demos, radio sessions, remixes and rarities. The limited edition box set will be released at the beginning of December, dependent on territory, and preceded by the worldwide vinyl reissue of Lush’s ‘Best Of’ compilation Ciao!in November.

Lush have today announced details of their first live show in almost twenty years, playing London’s Roundhouse on 6th May 2016, with further worldwide dates to be announced shortly. Tickets are available here from 9am on Wednesday (30th).

Formed in London in 1988 and centered around childhood friends Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush expertly fused melody and guitars; a sound that was christened ‘shoegaze’ well after they released their first records and a scene they outgrew with the sharpening of their pop sound with each release. Over the course of a decade, the band released three studio albums – Spooky (1992), Split(1994) and Lovelife (1996) – to growing critical and commercial success. In addition, they also put out a mini-album Scar (1989) and a string of EPs that were used to create two compilations, Gala (1990) and Topolino (1996), two albums that would ultimately bookend their story. After the sad death of founding member Chris Acland in late-1996, the band were left too grief stricken to continue, calling time shortly after.
