San Diego outfit Mood of a Sinner—featuring Antonin Mortue on vocals, Tamayo Lopez on rhythm guitar, Nicolas Ballow on lead guitar, Bianney Zermeno on bass, and Chantalle Sevilla on drums—has unleashed their latest gothic rock single, Danse Anastasis. Born from the upheaval of the post-pandemic era, the band delivers a sound that strikes a bittersweet balance between feral intensity and theatrical flair, brimming with the fervor of a dark revival.
Mood of a Sinner delves into the paradoxes of faith, the allure of surrealism, and the theatrical splendor of performance. With Danse Anastasis, they beckon listeners into a storm of raw emotion—an invitation to embrace the beauty and chaos lingering in every sinner’s soul. The track melds eerie melodies, haunting reverb, screeching distortion, and whisper-screamed vocals into a sinister soundscape reminiscent of Christian Death and The Birthday Party – perfect for fans of black metal, deathrock, and 90s alternative.
The song unravels the tale of Gregory, a timid young man who falls for a ballerina only to lose her to a tragic fate. In desperation, he turns to a ritual to bring her back, but the outcome is far from what he envisioned. Themes of love, death, and despair entwine in a macabre dance, as necromantic rites ignite obsession, betrayal, and divine rejection, leading Gregory into a descent of madness and spectral sorrow.
“The song is a gruesome reminder for man to not “play god” and to not tamper with that which you do not understand,” concludes the band.

The band is still working on the mixing and mastering process of their upcoming concept album, Last Temptation, due out later this year.
