Robert Smith Re-records “Pictures of You” with a String Quartet for Death Documentary “Dead Good”

The Cure’s Robert Smith has announced that he has recorded a string quartet version of his classic Disintegration era single Pictures of You  for an upcoming film documentary.

Smith is joined by fellow Cure keyboardist Roger O’Donnell, along with the with the London-based Quartet Voluté for the new documentary “Dead Good.”

Following a series of interviews in the aftermath of his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Cure frontman took to social media in his trademark all caps fashion to announce that he and O’Donnell had re-recorded the 1989 track last year. (see post below).

A description of the documentary:

“In Brighton, UK, a small group of women have been changing the way people look after their dead. Supporting them during the ritual of care after death, and empowering them to create personal ceremonies reflecting the life that the deceased lived. This relatively unknown work is part of an emerging movement that is changing the way death is approached in contemporary Britain.”

Watch the trailer below, the version of “Pictures Of You” can be heard towards the end.
