Rayne Reznor Joins Forces with Radical Bicep for Soaring Darkwave Single “Fly By Night”

Rayne Reznor, an independent electronic music producer hailing from the forests of Maine, is known for his versatile repertoire that spans from rock to industrial to synthwave and even coldwave. He takes pride in his self-motivation to continually push the boundaries of his music, exploring new horizons. Lately, this exploration has led him into the realms of dark-synth, witch-house, and, in this particular instance, a touch of guitar-driven gothic rock.

On the other hand, Radical Bicep, comprising Doug Tesnow and singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Perkins (formerly of Hamerzya), gravitates towards the dreamier facets of synthwave, infused with a hint of cyberpunk aesthetics.

Both projects initially found their home at Retrosynth Records, but eventually ventured down their separate paths. Radical Bicep chose to remain independent, while Reznor embarked on a new journey, signing with Ghost Works Records in early 2023. Despite their individual trajectories, their creative synergy remains undiminished, as they continue to collaborate and mutually inspire one another.

Their latest collaborative effort, the mesmerizing single Fly By Night, seamlessly blends elements of synth and darkwave, delving into profound themes such as life, death, love, and the complexities in between. This ethereal composition showcases the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Lisa Marie Perkins. Her melancholic delivery serves as the anchor amidst a lush soundbed of shimmering guitars and otherworldly synths. Drawing inspiration from artists like Twin Tribes, The Cure, Dance with the Dead, And One, Danger, and many more, Fly By Night expertly navigates across musical genres.

Fly By Night is a special song about the difficulties that we all face in life, and finding our purpose and calling through them,” Reznor muses. “Words don’t always come easy to me, but when I handed this to Lisa to interpret its meaning, she definitely hit the nail on the head lyrically.”
