After exploring the realms of industrial and gothic metal in their past work, Philippe Deschemin of Pure Obsessions & Red Nights yearned for a deeper connection with the 80s sound, steering the band into fresh waters. Drawing inspiration from icons like Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Tears For Fears, INXS, and Killing Joke, the use of vintage synths and gear injects a rich, analogue warmth into their music, blending the raw force of industrial beats with the moody vibes of darkwave.
The French group unfurled their new single, Where The Shadows Dance, which melds the essence of new wave with synth-pop, characterized by its broad synthesizer sounds and powerful electronic rhythms mixed with rock elements. Their distinctive approach is revealed in forceful, expressive arrangements that often evoke feelings of wistfulness and allure, against a setting that seems almost film-like in its breadth. In Where The Shadows Dance, they skillfully juxtapose the chill of electronic instruments with the heat of sincere melody, creating a complex yet profoundly touching sound.
