Prolific Post-Punk Outfit Soft Kill Debut Dreamy new Single “Molly”

As the rose city of Portland embraces the joys of Spring, a dreamlike sweetness is blooming from prolific post-punk outfit Soft Kill, with the news that another brand new album entitled “Metta World Peace” looms on the horizon. This latest endeavor from the group continues their legacy of emotionally-charged music that has captured the hearts of many without any signs of diminishing returns, even now as the band has departed their former west coast home for the windy city of Chicago.

In fact, Soft Kill’s latest single, “Molly,” is a compelling glimpse into the band’s ongoing growth and experimentation. In this track, Soft Kill’s musical virtuosity is fully displayed as they seamlessly fuse the dream pop aesthetic with more aggressive pulse of post-punk percussion. The bittersweet ballad is carefully crafted with its irresistible melody layered over moody yet optimistic shoegaze distortion, providing a soundscape that perfectly mirrors the introspective nature of the lyrics.

Listen to “Molly” below:

Tobias Grave’s rumbling vocals lend an additional layer of emotional depth to the song, merging gloom and tenderness with a rare authenticity. As the listener is enveloped by the melancholic atmosphere, we are reminded of Soft Kill’s undeniable gift for producing music that is both heart-rending and cathartic.

Metta World Peace, the highly anticipated upcoming release from Soft Kill, promises to be a dynamic expression of the band’s evolution. Returning to their roots of home recording, a method that served them well on previous projects such as “Premium Drifter” and various cassette-only releases, the band enlisted a talented roster of artists, including Evil Pimp, N8NOFACE, Andres Chavez, and Adam Klopp (Choir Boy). These artists lent their unique voices to the album, which Tobias Grave recorded in various locations across the country, including his former home of Portland and new home in Chicago.

As a teaser, “Molly” is currently available for free download, and those who order the album can receive a free 12″ (while supplies last).

Only 100 hand-numbered copies of the 12″ are available, with no plans for a repress.

You can purchase their merch here and at their Bandcamp.
