Mark your calendars for September 21st, as Los Angeles’s own DECEITS prepare to light up the El Rey Theater in a show that promises to be the highlight of the year. Headlining this powerhouse event, DECEITS will be joined by Male Tears, Past Self, and Total Pleasure.
Formed in late 2021, DECEITS have quickly become a force in the goth and alternative underground. Known for their unique blend of melancholic melodies and dynamic performances, the trio—comprising Kevin “Puppy” Moreno, Skylar Francise, and Francisco Saenz—infuses their music with an emotional depth that resonates far beyond traditional goth and punk boundaries. Their sound, influenced by bands like The Cure and Motorama, offers a fresh take on post-punk, combining passion with precision.
Male Tears meld melancholic melodies with intense instrumentation, creating a sound that’s both haunting and hypnotic. Their tunes dive deep into emotional depths and existential angst, echoing the dark allure of The Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus with a contemporary twist.
Past Self, a powerhouse in the post-punk revival, merges nostalgic influences with modern innovation. Their sound is a potent mix of driving rhythms, brooding basslines, and atmospheric guitar work, capturing the raw intensity of early post-punk while adding a fresh urgency and emotional resonance.
Total Pleasure stands as a trailblazer, combining dark, danceable rhythms with lush, atmospheric layers. They infuse vintage post-punk with a modern edge, crafting music that’s both enthralling and evocative.
The night will also feature DJ sets by Jackimissyou and DJ Malvada, adding a layer to the already thrilling lineup. Sponsored by Golden Voice, this event at the beautiful El Rey Theater promises an unforgettable evening.
