Athens Georgia post-punk act Garage of Broken Dreams have terrorized garages together since their adolescence and are now planning to unleash a sprawling 55-track triple album of improvised discordant and psychedelic punk absurdity, interspersed with occasional moments of magic that is a fitting metaphor and soundtrack for what life has become worldwide in 2020.
The album’s lead single/video “The Holy Spirit” is a frantic flurry of confusion and delusion, shot through with a raw and listless post-punk energy. Like the rest of the album, it was written and recorded in 3 sleepless days in a remote cabin on the Broad River in Athens Georgia and tweaked endlessly during the maddening stasis of Covid-19.
A double dose of the collective cabin fever we are all experiencing.
