Portland Post-Punk act Koalra Debut their Kaleidoscopic Video for “Your Secret’s Safe With Me”

Fusing fuzz-fueled guitars and loose rhythms into glorious experimental soundscapes, Portland’s Koalra announces the release of the intriguing Your Secret’s Safe With Me.

Taking cues from Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, and The Cure; landing in the realm of more modern acts like Public Service Broadcasting and even the experimental Forest For The Trees, the track mixes soothing guitar work, introspective lyrics, and field recordings. The result is unique, poignant, and kaleidoscopic, reflected in the glitch-laden performance video, art directed by Skarlet Overdrive.

Watch the video for “Your Secret’s Safe with Me” below:

The four-piece, originally hailing from Chicago, debuted their self-titled 8-track album in December 2019: a noise-fest of uplifting, yet thrashing guitar tracks full of grungy melodies. In 2020, Koalra moved on to more introspective themes with Surprise Lights. This change, inspired by the steadily growing uncertainty of our time, has sparked a trend in the band’s evolution, resulting in The Wakes. Early 2021’s Into The Everything even finds the band dip into new wave territory. Sparked by new additions to their lineup and a new location full of creative people, Koalra plans to turn things up a notch as they prepare their next album Love Songs To Remind Us That We Can’t Stand Each Other, a collection of love songs fueled by the disenchantment of our current social and political climate.

Love Songs to Remind Us That We Can’t Stand Each Other is available for pre-order here.
