Portland Duo Coloring Electric Like Explore Psychic “Dissonance” in Their Disturbing New Video

it’s live or die

Enigmatic Portland duo Coloring Electric Like dwells simultaneously in the worlds of darkwave, industrial, shoegaze, and triphop. With their latest release, the disorienting Dissonance, they weave a sonic, layered landscape, moving from dark and dreamy to searing and corrosive, with haunting vocals tying together the often cacophonous frequency.

“We have an affinity for making music that expresses the psyche, that makes human inner dialogue and turmoil tangible,” says the band. “…I think we all have an awareness of the cognitive dissonance present in our world, our minds, and our souls. Whether we openly declare or admit it, or bury it into our subconscious long enough to pretend that life is normal for another day. It’s something none of us can continue to ignore though. It’s there, and it runs deep.”

Coloring Electric Like embraces the disturbing zeitgeist of psychotic chaos, hurtling headlong down a rabbit hole of the human psyche in an insane world.
